Central African Republic: Cholera Outbreak - Jun 2026
On 26 June, the Ministry of Health declared a cholera outbreak in the Bimbo and Mbaïki health districts. Authorities have reported 197 suspected cases, one confirmed case and 24 deaths. Humanitarian partners are supporting the response through the provision of decontamination supplies, medical kits and community awareness campaigns. Limited access to safe drinking water, inadequate treatment capacity and widespread open defecation, particularly in Bimbo along the Ubangi River, continue to drive transmission. OCHA is closely monitoring the situation and supporting resource mobilization for a comprehensive response.
